Siobhan was born with a rare and debilitating genetic disease that affects only two thousand people worldwide. Many patients suffer with diseases that aren't being researched because the patient bases are too small. Novartis is actively researching treatments for a wide range of rare diseases and what they learn may also help them develop medicines for a variety of illnesses, including ones that afflict large populations.
